Outreach

Outreach

Another key tenant of St. Peter's mission is the demonstration of Christian love through the sharing of our gifts, time talents with our neighbors, particularly those in need. We do this in the following ways:

St. John's Saturday Luncheon social

Weekly, St. John's Episcopal Church, Boonton, hosts a luncheon social for 20-25 people from the surrounding area. All are welcome to enjoy a hot meal, social interaction and to take home a meal. Over the years, dozens of St. Peter's parishioners have participated to plan, buy and prepare a hot meal on the second and alternating third Saturdays of the month. In 2025, St. Peter's hosted luncheons on 18 Saturdays, feeding over 400 people. If you have any interest in helping to prepare and serve meals on a Saturday afternoon, please contact Steve Emr at steveemr@gmail.com or 201-572-5445.

FAITH KITCHEN

Supported by some 25 churches in Morris County, Faith Kitchen provides nourishing lunches for as many as 100 people six days a week at Trinity Lutheran in Dover. St. Peter's serves on the 5th Wednesday of the month. Contact: Janet Wilson or Lisa Sonn

Mental health Association

The MHA is an agency that embraces the faith-based community as a powerful resource in holistically addressing the needs of those they serve from many different perspectives. St. Peter's has been a partner in this ministry with the MHA since 2012, hosting dinners for the MHA Social Club, supporting their Educational Assistance Program, answering the call for emergency food, clothing and furniture needs, and most recently participating in their client companion program. For more information or to learn of ways that you can help in this ministry, please contact Don MacGowan at dmacgowan@verizon.net.

Boonton Social Services Food Pantry

St. Peters supports both Boonton Social Services with regular donations of non-perishable goods and with Christmas gifts to their client families. Contact: Steve Foshay

Church World Services & the Lighthouse, Jersey City

St. Peter's became acquainted with the work of CWS when we partnered with them in 2022 to house 16 Afghan asylees. In the process we rehabilitated two buildings that housed 2 large families for 2 1/2 years until they were ready to find housing on their own. We continue in the spirit of this work with an ongoing partnership with CWS and with our own diocesan ministry of the Lighthouse in the work of refugee resettlement. We routinely help support food, clothing and furniture needs as our vulnerable neighbors find their footing in their new homeland.
