Centennial renewal - the next 100 years beyond our walls
In 2023 St. Peter's will celebrate 100 years of ministry. Our historic stone & stucco buildings have graced our hillside landscape in the heart of Mountain Lakes. Being the beneficiaries of a church building that gives a "warm embrace" to all that enter, this generation of St. Peter's parishioners wants to extend that embrace "beyond our walls". We have enlisted the talents of a landscape architect to develop a "landscape master plan" that will create a welcoming, eco-friendly, safe and sustainable space on our hillside frontage for all to enjoy.
what you will see - construction has begun!
New terrace outside the undercroft entrance - providing a wonderful gathering place for our parish and the community.
Handicap accessible ramp from parking lot to proposed terrace and the
creation of a welcoming pedestrian landing area at the parking lot level.
The replacement of the historic Boulevard staircase leading to the terrace making clear to guests and passers-by that they are welcome to enter, come to rest, and enjoy our grounds.

more details of our plan to extend god's embrace
- Memorial Garden renewed with wall replacing existing arborvitae and deteriorating wooden tie wall.
- Slope stabilization across entire Boulevard facing property allowing for enhanced landscaping and plantings.
- Secondary rain garden installed, to manage surplus storm water.
- New church sign at corner of Martin's Lane to clearly invite visitors in.
This enhancement to our grounds will create a space that can extend church services, celebrations and events into the community and also allow the community to use our space to have a casual and daily interaction. But this too will be a physical manifestation of the renewal that is happening in our vibrant and growing church community and, as we embark on our 2nd century of ministry, to witness that God makes all things new.
