FAITH KITCHEN
St. Peter's Faith Kitchen ministry provides meals at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover four times a year. Trinity is the home of Faith Kitchen, which is open Monday through Saturday to provide for those in need. As well as providing food, Faith Kitchen provide a link to social services to the community via Edna's Haven (a service of The Mental Health Association of Morris County), which shares the space with Faith Kitchen. In addition, the Zufall Health Center Van parks outside the church periodically and offers medical and dental care to patients.
Scheduled serving dates are the "fifth" Wednesday of the month. We cook on the Tuesday before in St. Peter's approved kitchen. Currently, we provide 120 meals a day and a similar number of take-away sandwiches. Our volunteers chop, cook and assemble the meals the day before and the food is transported to Faith Kitchen on Wednesday morning. The group is led by Evelyn and Jerry Watkins. Volunteers are always welcome!

St. John's Saturday Luncheon social
Over 15 years ago the men of St. Peter's made a commitment to take on an outreach in conjunction with our mother church, St. John's, Boonton. Every Saturday, St. John's hosts a luncheon social for 20-25 people from the surrounding area. All are welcome to enjoy a hot meal, social interaction and to take home a meal. Over the years, dozens of St. Peter's parishioners have participated to plan, buy and prepare a hot meal on the second and alternating third Saturdays of the month. In 2024, St. Peter's hosted luncheons on 18 Saturdays, feeding over 400 people. If you have any interest in helping to prepare and serve meals on a Saturday afternoon, please contact Steve Emr at [email protected] or 201-572-5445.

Mental health Association
Serving Northern New Jersey, the Mental Health Association (MHA), is a service provider that is committed to compassionate, dignified and empowering treatment that guides our society’s most vulnerable citizens along their individual paths to Wellness and Recovery. The MHA continues to build upon the combined legacies of the Mental Health Association of Essex County, which was established in 1950, and the Mental Health Association of Morris County, which was established in 1953. These two agencies merged together in 2017 to form a stronger, more comprehensive behavioral health provider.
The MHA is an agency that embraces the faith-based community as a powerful resource in holistically addressing the needs of those we serve from many different perspectives. St. Peter's has been a partner in this ministry with the MHA since 2012, hosting dinners for the MHA Social Club, supporting their Educational Assistance Program, answering the call for emergency food, clothing and furniture needs, and most recently participating in their client companion program. For more information or to learn of ways that you can help in this ministry, please contact Don MacGowan at [email protected].

NORTH PORCH WOMEN & INFANT CENTERS
North Porch provides emergency supplies for babies and new mothers. The ministry was originally established in 1978 in Newark by the Venerable Martha Blacklock. All clients are referred to us by social service and religious organizations. Clients are given diapers, wipes, formula, baby food and toiletries up to 4 times per year. On a limited basis, we also provide clothing and blankets.
Last year we served over 3,500 children from low-income families to help stabilize and improve the quality of their lives as they deal with daily challenges. North Porch has 5 locations in northern New Jersey: Dover, Hackettstown, Jersey City, Morristown, Newark and Paterson. Contact E. V. Janopaul or go to northporch.org for any additional information.

OTHER MINISTRIES...
Throughout the year, we purchase non-perishable items for the Food Pantry sponsored by Boonton Social Services. Also for Christmas, we collect gifts for client families of Boonton Social Services and children at The Lake Drive School--which offers educational options for children with hearing loss.
